ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

1. Advantages

- Removing severely diseased or damaged trees: Poisoning can eliminate trees that are a risk to people, property, or infrastructure due to disease or structural defects.

- Controlling invasive species: Poisoning can effectively kill invasive tree species that threaten native ecosystems.

- Enhancing forest management: Poisoning can assist in thinning crowded forests, promoting the growth of more valuable trees.

- Improving safety: Removing dead or dying trees near power lines, roads, or buildings can prevent accidents and injuries.

2. Disadvantages

- Environmental impact: Poisoning chemicals can harm non-target species, including beneficial insects, birds, and mammals.

- Soil contamination: Herbicides used for poisoning can persist in the soil for a long period, potentially affecting the health of future plants.

- Water pollution: Chemicals can leach into groundwater or surface water, posing risks to aquatic life and human health.

- Cost: The application of herbicides and the subsequent monitoring and cleanup can be expensive.

- Lack of control: Once poison is applied, it can be difficult to control the extent of its effects, potentially harming nearby vegetation.

- Aesthetic concerns: Poisoning can leave unsightly dead trees, which may impact property values or recreational opportunities.

- Health hazards: Handling and applying herbicides can pose health risks to individuals involved in the poisoning process.

- Ethical considerations: Some people view poisoning trees as an inhumane or disrespectful form of tree removal, and prefer alternative methods such as mechanical felling or girdling.
